I started West Coast Hardwood Floors in 1996. I have been licensed in Oregon and Washington for 25 years. I have been doing hardwood flooring for 31 years. I started in Chicago at 16 years old, working for a family friend who owned Arlington Hardwood Floors. My junior and senior year of high school, I worked on the ICE work school program. I had enough credits to go to school a half day, and go to work the second half. Both years I was awarded “class president” of the ICE school work program. All while maintaining a 3.9 grade point average.
In 2019, after starting work at 5 years old, my son, Nathan Sayyah, became co-owner of West Coast Hardwood Floors. Nathan and I, also do real estate investing together.
In addition to working for Arlington Hardwood Floors, I had my own side business installing hardwood floors in Chicago. After moving to Oregon, I worked for JC Hardwood floors for 1 year. At this point, I decided to start my own company in Lincoln City. The city boy loved the coast, but missed the hustle! From there I settled for good in my beloved Sherwood, my company growing along with Sherwood. I raised my 3 children Anna, Nathan, and Olivia there as a single parent for 12 years. I love Sherwood, the schools, and the people! After I came home from doing hardwood flooring, I would fix up the houses me and the kids lived in. I was able to flip a house every 3 years, helping me to raise my 3 kids and give them a stable life.
By 16 years old, I had won trophies in wrestling and wrestling tournaments. I also competed in a Triathlon. At 14 years old, a friend and I biked 600 miles from Lake Villa, Illinois, to Washington Island, Wisconsin, and back, alone. I also trained for bodybuilding. My goals were to win the Tour De France, and win Mister All Natural Illinois in bodybuilding. I chose to pursue starting a family instead of these goals.
Starting a family at 19 years old was not easy. However, my success lies with my family, which is something money, higher education, and my goals could not buy. Being able to raise 3 independent, self sufficient, God fearing children, was the greatest award I ever achieved! As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we put family and spiritual interests first. That is the key to my success!
